A unique mission opportunity for youth and young adult volunteers
This is a great opportunity for volunteers to participate in a very rewarding program. As a volunteer, you will be enabling the campers to learn more about Christ and grow in their faith while you experience God’s presence in a new and exciting way. Many different volunteer opportunities exist requiring various commitment and skill levels. Due to the outdoor setting of the camp and the special needs of the children we will need about 230 volunteers. One of the most rewarding jobs is being a “buddy” to a child with special needs. “Buddies” facilitate the children so that they get the most out of their camp experience. Some of the other volunteer jobs are, helping with crafts, games, fishing, rock-wall climbing, photography, grounds keepers, nature studies, horses, and helping in the kitchen.
The ideal age for volunteers is 16 to 24 and the minimum age for volunteers is 14. Some positions do require adults with special skills or experience such as nurses and physical therapists, while still other positions require adults of any age who just like to work hard and be with kids. Training will be provided for all volunteers on Sunday night before camp starts.
There is no fee for volunteering at the camp. Volunteers get a free T-shirt, and lunch is provided each day for them at that camp.
Most volunteers stay overnight at The Christian Disciple Festival which taskes place at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds. Volunteering at the Disciple Farm combined with The Christian Disciple Festival provides a unique discipleship building experience. After camp each day, volunteers will get to participate in many activities, workshops, games, camping, awesome music, art classes, dance classes and worship designed to teach them to be better disciples and to increase their passion for following Christ. The Festival also has inexpensive dinners and breakfasts. Families are welcome to stay at the fairgrounds if they want. You can find out more by going to the Festival Web Site.
